'Unanimity key to counter terrorism'

TEHRAN, Apr. 15 (MNA) – President Rouhani met with Algerian Senate Speaker on Thursday in Istanbul and reiterated that if terrorism is not countered in a region it will spread across the whole world.

“Revolutionary thoughts and the resistance of the Algerians are greatly valued by Iranians,” said President Hassan Rouhani in his meeting with the Algerian Speaker of the Council of the Nation (Senate-Upper House) Abdelkader Bensalah.

The two senior officials met on Thursday, on the sidelines of the 13th Summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Turkish port city of Istanbul.

Hailing the strong ties between the two nations, President Rouhani maintained that the two countries share the same views toward the regional and international issues while Tehran and Algiers are developing bilateral relations.

“Many regions in the world, like the north of Africa, have been grappling with complex problems mostly more complicated with foreigners’ intervention and acts of terrorist groups,” regretted the Iranian president stressing on stability, peace, and serenity in the whole world.

President Rouhani highlighted that, “It has become known to all today that if terrorism, extremism, and violence are not countered in one region, they will spread to other regions, and the world has no way but cooperation and unanimity to solve the problems.”

Iranian president also welcomed the expansion of ties and relations with Algeria and described the current occasion of post-sanctions era as a prime time for developing brotherly and friendly ties between the two countries.
